Hannah Chan
Senior Lawyer, Corporate and Finance
What I do at ClientEarth
I am Hannah Chan, Senior Corporate and Finance Lawyer for ClientEarth’s Japan and Southeast Asia team. I am based in Manila, and work with colleagues and stakeholders across the region to help shape legal, policy, and financial frameworks that support a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy. My current work focuses on corporate and finance priorities in Southeast Asia, including building greenwashing guardrails and supporting high-integrity and credible legal frameworks for carbon markets.
Who am I?
Before joining ClientEarth in February 2026, I worked on integrity and governance initiatives with multilateral development banks and gained experience in investment diligence and project finance assessment in the energy sector. Previously, I worked with the Philippine government on infrastructure and socioeconomic policy reforms, including matters involving government-owned or -controlled corporations.
I hold an MBA from Georgetown University and a JD from the University of the Philippines, and I am qualified to practise law in the Philippines.

Advice for prospective candidates
We look for candidates with strong technical and legal skills in financial laws and regulations. Equally important is the ability to distill complex information into clear insights for diverse stakeholders, along with a proven track record of independently driving projects.
