About the role
We have an open vacancy in our Brussels office! We are looking for a sharp, politically-savvy professional to deliver our public affairs work in the EU. Working closely with the Associate Director of Europe, as well as Heads of Offices in the EU and our systems Heads and teams, you will deploy our EU public affairs work to best navigate the new political context.
Meet your Manager
In this role, you will be managed by Pierre Cannet who joined ClientEarth in 2023. Pierre is our Global Head of Public Affairs and Policy leading a dynamic team that drives strategic advocacy and policy influence across all our offices with policy work. Based in Madrid, Pierre brings over 15 years of global advocacy experience - from the UN to WWF - championing environmental change through law, diplomacy, and campaigns.
Main Duties
- Support the Associate Director of Europe and Heads of Systems to develop to implement an EU public affairs plan to meet the strategic needs of the organisation.
- Develop and maintain full stakeholder mapping for our work with EU institutions and other important players in Brussels.
- Support our senior leaders in the EU to build and maintain relationships in line with the strategic needs of ClientEarth, including with elected officials, political advisers, civil servants.
- Monitor relevant developments in the EU Parliament and the Commission.

Role requirements
- Experience of delivering high quality, impactful public affairs strategies.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of EU policy landscape and institutions.
- Experience of working in media, politics or parliament, including briefing politicians.
- Experience of working in the sector of NGOs, especially on advocacy/campaigns (desirable).
- Excellent political and practical judgement and diplomacy with the ability to persuade different audiences and stakeholders.
