About the role

The Senior Philanthropy Officer (Germany) will join ClientEarth’s thriving Philanthropy team and play a key role in securing global income from individuals, trusts, foundations and other funders in Germany, as well as from funders in other countries in Europe.

The Senior Philanthropy Officer in Germany will work alongside the Philanthropy Lead, Europe in Berlin and sit within the Global Philanthropy and Events team which delivers around £7m annually, predominately unrestricted support.

Meet your Manager

Prior to joining ClientEarth, Clea worked as a fundraiser and marketing specialist for a number of humanitarian and development non-governmental organisations (NGOs), both nationally and internationally. She has led fundraising teams and strategies in countries such as the UK, France and Germany. Through her humanitarian and development work, she has had the opportunity to hear first-hand from many communities directly affected by the climate crisis around the world. Clea graduated with honours in French and Italian from the University of Manchester and obtained her Masters in Marketing from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland. She holds a Certificate in Fundraising Management from the British Institute of Fundraising and speaks English, French, German and Italian.

Main Duties

  • Support Germany specific foundation and major donor fundraising operations including prospect research and screening, development of tracking tools, cultivation
  • Responsible for delivery of income portfolio, made up of five and six figure donors giving approx. €500,000-600,000pa.

Role requirements

  • A proven track record of major donor management, soliciting and closing five-figure or six-figure gifts
  • Experience of successfully managing the relationship with a new donor, from prospect identification through to cultivation
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, ability to foster positive working relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders
