About the role
This is an excellent opportunity for a Programme Officer to contribute to ClientEarth’s work to protect the world’s forests and strengthen Indigenous Peoples’ and Local Communities’ rights on land and forestry governance. The Programme Officer will use their experience of supporting the delivery of programme activities, including tasks such as budget management and financial reporting, work planning and narrative reporting and the monitoring and evaluation of the programmes’ impacts.
You will support ClientEarth’s work in West and Central Africa. The post holder will need to ensure high impact projects are delivered in compliance with internal policies and funder requirements. An important part of the role will be to complete the administrative functions necessary for the effective delivery of the work, as well as to meet financial and narrative reporting requirements.
Meet your Manager
In this role, you will report to Catherine Lalonde, Head of Food, Oceans, and Land Use, African Partnerships. Catherine joined ClientEarth in 2025 and is based in Brussels. She leads ClientEarth’s programmes and impact strategies in Africa, built on long-term partnerships with lawyers and civil society organisations across West and Central Africa. Her work is grounded in regional priorities while ensuring alignment with ClientEarth’s global mission and strategy.
Main Duties
- Manage key administrative functions, including processing and monitoring payment requests, invoices and related materials according to existing procedures;
- Work with program management staff and the finance team to support the management of project and programme budgets and compile and coordinate financial reporting and forecasts;
- Work with the Programme Managers and legal colleagues to provide timely input and meet programme requirements relating to monitoring and evaluation, including M&E data collection and analysis;

Role requirements
- Fluent (CEFR level C2) in English
- Fluent (CEFR level C2) in French
- Experience working in a support position to a team
- Experience of financial administration including processing finance reports, receipts or invoices
